Walter Williams spearheaded the campaign to bring together several libraries and archival collections that now constitute the worlds' largest repository of gay, lesbian, bisexual , transgender and queer materials, which is now housed at ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives at the University of Southern California

During his graduate school years, Walter Williams utilized many archives for his dissertation research, including the US National Archives (pictured here), Howard University, Schomberg Center for Black Culture, Lincoln University, and Harvard University.
